It all began in 1966 when grandfather Antonio, known to everyone as Zi 'Ndo, and grandmother Elisabetta, known as Zà Bettina, started this adventure, accompanied by their son Enzo.
The characteristic imprint is, from the beginning, that of family management. For more than fifty years of management, always by the same Faricelli family, La Taverna Antica is one of the historic establishments in town.
Starting in 1999, following a thorough renovation, the children Maurizio and Valentina returned it to its original character, making it a reference point for Italian hospitality traditional cuisine and good taste.
La Taverna Antica is situated on Pescara hills,with a view to the Basilica della Madonna dei Sette Dolori Cathedral of “Madonna dei 7 dolori”, whose origins date back to the first half of XVII century.
The church is dedicated to the Virgin whom according to Christian tradition, had to face 7 afflictions and it is a religious, historical, artistic, and cultural landmark for the town of Pescara as well as for the whole region. The feast that recurs every year on the first Sunday of June, attracts pilgrims from Abruzzo and outside the region.
